Safelite AutoGlass® Raises $12,000 for Local Charities through “10TV Commit To Be Fit” Races
COLUMBUS, Ohio – July 31, 2013 - On July 28, 2013, 59 of Safelite AutoGlass’s area employees gathered together to participate in the company-sponsored www.multisportfestival.com/ in order to raise funds for the American Heart Association’s Central Ohio Heart Walk and the YMCA’s Livestrong program assisting cancer survivors’ recovery. Their fundraising efforts will result in a $6,000 donation to each charity.
Sponsoring the 10TV Commit To Be Fit Multisport Festival aligns with two of the company’s key initiatives: employee wellness and charitable giving. Safelite AutoGlass® hosted its first-ever charity triathlon event in 2010 to raise funds for Afrika Tikkun, a South African based nonprofit. The Las Vegas event – the Safelite® Challenge – has welcomed approximately 250 employees each year and has raised roughly $1M for Afrika Tikkun in total.
“The annual Safelite® Challenge in Las Vegas is an amazing way for our people across the company to join together to make a difference for charity while encouraging physical fitness. It’s had such a positive impact, that we are expanding the Challenge into our local communities, beginning with Columbus, our hometown,” explained Tom Feeney, president and CEO of Safelite®. “I am so proud of our associates who volunteered their time and money to give back to our community.”
