Club Kids Gets Tech Upgrade through Safelite Grant
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus is giving its members access to the latest and greatest technology available with the help of a $25,000 Impact Grant from Safelite AutoGlass® Foundation. New iPads, musical equipment and computer equipment funded by the grant will allow the Clubs to offer even more academic and technology-focused programs.
The Club will roll out their new iPads during “Open the Door to Technology” day on Monday, April 16th during National Boys & Girls Clubs Week. The three Club sites will receive their iPads and members will learn how to use them with the help of Lawrence Funderburke, Club Alumnus and Ohio State and NBA standout. Tom Feeney, Safelite President and CEO, will be in attendance to help introduce the new technology to Club members.
The new technology funded by Safelite is expected to (1) increase academic achievement and technology use by members (2) boost average daily attendance by members at the Clubs, and (3) positively impact the high graduation rate of Club members. New technology programs at BGCC include Club Tech, which is designed to teach members technology skills needed to advance their academic and professional success; the Music Makers program which gives members the chance to compose and record music, and a creative Digital Arts program.
