Tucson Market Scores Big at First Annual Charity Softball Tournament Benefiting Boys & Girls Clubs
Starting with little league all the way to the adult leagues, there are few sports with as many players anxious to join in the fun as there are in softball. And when playing a game you love can also benefit a worthy cause, then so much the better!
That’s exactly what the Safelite AutoGlass team in Tucson decided, so on Saturday, April 25, they held their first annual charity softball tournament benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson. Serving Tucson’s youth since 1963, their mission is to provide young people in the community with a clear path to reach their full potential and inspire them to pursue their dreams.
In support of that goal, eight teams from area businesses joined the Safelite AutoGlass team to participate in the tournament.
There was fierce – yet friendly – competition, and everyone had a great time, thanks to pre-planning by Area Sales Manager Nicole J.. They even made arrangements for some fun activities beyond softball – music, face painting and a snack bar were set up for everyone to enjoy.
A group of teens from the Boys & Girls Club came to watch and sold some 50/50 raffle tickets to the 200 spectators who attended. A total of 25 Tucson Safelite AutoGlass associates played and volunteered for the event.
At the end of the day, the results were well worth the time that went into planning the tournament. Safelite was able to raise $6,220, and $2,780 was raised from the activities during the event, for a grand total of $9,000
“We will be presenting the proceeds to the Boys & Girls Club of Tucson with a check from the Safelite AutoGlass Foundation,” Nicole shared. “It was a great event that brought the community of Tucson together!”
